It's true. We had the kids computer and art stuff on this hideous lifetime table. It was covered in paint, since I routinely use it for painting furniture or picture frames or whatever else I decide to slather paint on. I decided it couldn't get any worse, so I rolled on a couple coats of black chalkboard paint!
Now, I may as well be honest and tell you that it's not going to last forever. I can envision one of them realizing that if they try hard enough they can scratch the paint off and that will be the end of it. But it will be fun while it lasts.
EDIT: I ended up stripping off the paint so that I could put down a plastic primer first. So I sprayed on the plastic primer, sanded the table, and then rolled on the chalkboard paint. It is much more permanent now! I love, love, love it! When I am at the computer and I need to jot something down I can just grab a piece of chalk and write on the table! Very handy!
